When we pump water up from the ground, we have to pour water into the pump first to get it started. We call this water "priming water". If we first pour some water into the pump, we can get much more out of it. Human relationships are similar. A person who considers his personal benefit first may get the wealth he wants, but he will become hardhearted and one by one the people around him will leave him. But the person who applies the principle of priming water to relationships by considering the needs and serving others first will draw many people to him and his life will gradually be greatly enriched. In Acts 20:35 the Bible says, "It is more blessed to give than to receive."
