Even though a person seemingly is living a totally worthless life, once he accepts the Lord, his life's value changes. It is because he becomes a child of God the Creator. When a child says 'mom' for the first time, his mother may feel very happy. In the same manner, God is pleased to see us practice the truth even though it may be just a small step. In return for it He wants to show His love to us. He cherishes and keeps every word of love and every tear of thanks that is poured out to Him. He repays us for whatever we have done not only on this earth but in Heaven as well.
