A king got his son to leave the palace for a while and experience many things in order to make him a great leader. He secretly sent his servant to be with him just in case he needed help. His son went through many incidents and realized how comfortable his life had been in the palace. Human cultivation is much the same as the example. We sometimes have hard times in this earthly life, but such experiences make us realize more just how valuable the glory and happiness we will have in Heaven is. God also will help us through the Holy Spirit and angels until we finally reach Heaven.
