I lived a financially comfortable life running a business importing and distributing coffee beans from overseas, along with operating a coffee shop. However, as I fell into drinking and nightlife, my lifestyle became increasingly indulgent, and my days and nights were reversed. About 7?8 years ago, I began suffering from severe insomnia. Even the ticking sound of a clock felt unbearably loud, so I had to leave it outside my room. There were many days when I could not sleep even for an hour and a half. It was so unbearable that I felt like I was losing my mind.
Because I couldn’t sleep properly, I began experiencing extreme mood swings, eventually developing bipolar disorder. About a year ago I was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which caused my whole body to feel lethargic. I had to take as many as 22 pills a day for these three conditions, but they had no effect. Instead, the excessive medication weakened my body further, forcing me to rely on a brace and a cane, and even install support handles in the bathroom at home.
Then on May 18, I visited a neighbor, who is a member of Manmin Central Church, and for the first time I was introduced to GCN broadcasting. Having once attended another church long ago, I felt certain as I listened to the sermon of Senior Pastor Soojin Lee that “this is the Word of life.” I said, “Let me watch GCN here at my home. I will start going to church.”
The next day, May 19, pastor Deok-bun Seo and other church workers visited my home, guided me on how to watch GCN, and prayed for me with the handkerchief of power. Then, an astonishing thing happened the following morning. For the first time in 7?8 years?during which I had barely slept even an hour and a half a day?I slept deeply for a full eight hours.
Overwhelmed with joy and gratitude, I said, “I can’t wait until Sunday,” and on May 20, I went to the Bundang Local Sanctuary, where I attended a Wednesday service and officially registered. Through the message on the world mission delivered by pastor Mikyung Lee, I was greatly blessed. Then, at the Sunday service on May 24, as I listened to Senior Pastor Lee’s Whitsunday message and 1 Corinthian lecture, I became even more convinced that this is truly the Word of life. During the service that day, I also received Senior Pastor’s prayer for the sick.
After registering at the church, remarkable changes happened in my body. Even though I stopped taking the 22 pills I had been relying on each day, the symptoms of insomnia, bipolar disorder, and hypothyroidism did not return. My body became full of energy, and I was able to walk freely without a brace or a cane. People say, “Your face looks so much brighter,” and “Even though you’re in your 70s, you look like you’re in your 60s.”
In the early morning of May 30, when I checked my phone, I was astonished to find that I had received nine calls overnight. I, who used to be unable to sleep even because of the ticking of a clock, had slept so deeply that I didn’t even notice the phone ringing nine times. The insomnia that had tormented me for 7?8 years had been completely healed. Hallelujah!
I give all thanks and glory to Father God who healed my insomnia, bipolar disorder, and hypothyroidism that had persisted for over seven years.
