We have to come near to God’s words
and bear them in our mind

Father God unsparingly gave us His only begotten Son Jesus and earnestly wants us to abide in His love. That’s why He commands us to read and bear in mind the Scriptures diligently, and to keep and obey His commandments always so that we can be guarded and blessed in all aspects (Deuteronomy 6:6-9).
People, as Adam’s offsprings, have a quality of being corruptible in which they easily forget what they heard and fail to keep their heart. It is a totally different story to Gods’ children who accept Jesus Christ and receive the Holy Spirit. When we put His words in the brain, we easily tend to forget them; but by the works of the Spirit our Helper, we can correctly remember what we have stored in the mind. As we eat and sleep regularly every day and breathe always even without trying to bring it into our remembrance, we can keep and practice His words when we keep them in mind and the Spirit helps us.
To treasure Gods’ words in mind, we have to come near to them always, meditate on them day and night, and practice them (Joshua 1:8). When we treasure them in mind and practice them steadfastly, we don’t forget them but bring them into our remembrance by the Spirit’s help when necessary.

We have to mediate on God’s words
and pray fervently holding fast to them

People always remember and miss someone they love. In the same way, when we love God, we come to meditate on His law recorded in the Bible all day long (Psalm 119:97, 148). By the way, we cannot keep and practice God’s words on our own will and strength alone. We can do it when we are empowered with God’s grace and strength and we can cast away sins and evils by the Spirit’s help (1 Timothy 4:5).
God told the Israelites to eat the flesh of a lamb, both its head and its legs along with its entrails, roasted with fire, and not to eat any of it raw or boiled at all with water (Exodus 12:8-9). The lamb symbolizes Jesus Christ who took away the sin of the world (John 1:29). The Word became flesh and He was Jesus Christ full of grace and truth. So, ‘to eat a lamb’ refers to ‘to make our spiritual bread of the words of the Bible.’ In reading the Bible, we should neither interpret it literally nor mingle it with the philosophy and knowledge of the world. We should be inspired by the Spirit through fervent prayers to make our bread of it and practice it.
It is because Hebrews 4:13 reads. “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

We have to cultivate our heart into spirit
by keeping and practicing the Word

It is important to practice God’s words after listening to them. When we practice them and bear fruits, our faith can be perfected and we can be justified (Romans 2:13). Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves” (John 6:53). His flesh refers to God’s words and His blood cleanses us from all sin when we walk in them (1 John 1:7). So, we have to make our bread of them and keep and practice them.
Then, by realizing the truth and acting upon it we can restore God’s image Adam lost after he sinned. When we meditate on the Scriptures and try our best to practice them, the Spirit our Helper urges us to follow goodness and we can be led by the voice and supervision of the Spirit (John 14:26). We can avoid committing sins when we obey the Spirit’s guidance, and we can cultivate our heart into spirit completely by keeping and obeying God’s words.
Therefore, we can defeat the forces of evil spirit including Satan and the devil and succeed in all things we do to the extent that we make our spiritual bread of the Word.
